Early Orthodontics for Children

Early Orthodontics for Children

Sometimes a single step can bring in a lot of difference .

As a parent, you want the best for your kid. That includes healthy teeth and an attractive smile. At Prime Dental, our goal is to treat your children as if they were our own, by providing them with the best possible treatment.

To have a smile that’s lasting and healthy, your kid needs teeth and jaws that are properly aligned – in other words, a healthy bite. It is recommended to get an orthodontic check-up no later than age seven.

Dr. Divya may identify a developing problem but recommend monitoring your child’s growth and development, and then, if indicated, begin treatment at the appropriate time for your child. In other cases, she might find a problem that can benefit from early treatment.

Early treatment may prevent or stop a more serious problem from developing and may make treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated. In certain cases, Dr. Divya will be able to achieve results that may not be possible once the face and jaws have completed growth.

YOUR COMMON QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY EXPERTS.

Some orthodontic issues are hereditary. However, it may also be acquired by oral habits such as thumb or finger sucking, pacifier use, poor dental hygiene, poor nutrition, trauma, or early or late loss of baby teeth. Most children have a combination of inherited and acquired orthodontic problems.

The duration of the treatment depends on various factors, such as the age of the child, the severity of the problem, and even the discipline of the patient in the case of removable orthodontics. What is certain is that the sooner treatment is started, it will be effective. Usually, the treatment should last between 12 and 30 months.

In the case of removable appliances, they have to brush their teeth before putting them on and when they take them off. We may advise you to use mouthwash and toothpaste containing fluoride.

Teeth move throughout one’s lifetime, making it important to wear retainers as prescribed by us to maintain your healthy, beautiful smile.

In addition to braces, we also advice aligners to move teeth. Consult us to learn what type of appliance can correct your problem.
